To paraphrase Frank Sinatra: If you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere. And one National Women’s Soccer League club has decided ttry tond make it in New York.

On Tuesday, April 6, Sky Blue FC of the NWSL announced a complete rebrand. They are now known as NJ/NY Gotham FC, and their new crest features the crown of the Statue of Liberty on top of a black shield, with a monogram in the shield in a shade the club still calls “Sky Blue”.

The crest monogram features a hybrid J-Y character, “which acknowledges New Jersey as the club’s birthplace while embracing the club’s growing New York reach, ” the club’s website reads.

“Today marks a new chapter for women’s soccer in the region, ” said Club Chair Tammy Murphy. “We’re making this important change due to our rapid growth and evolution. Our new name reflects our expanding regional reach and captures the relentless determination, unlimited energy, and incredible diversity of the communities we represent.”

Sky Blue FC were founded in 2008 and have played in several different venues around New Jersey. Part of Tuesday’s announcement, though, was the news that Gotham FC would move its base of operations to Jed Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J, which also houses MLS side Jed Bull New York.

The club’s primary kits are black with a sky blue sash running diagonally from the left shoulder. The secondary kits have the same sash on a white shirt.
