Back Sydney to confirm their overall dominance this season by winning Sunday’s A League Final.
Sydney FC v Melbourne Victory – Sunday 08: 00, BT Sport 1
Never before have a team been so superior to the rest in the regular season of the A League but that dominance will mean little should Sydney FC fail to win the big one this weekend. When it came down to the finaforur a couple of weeks ago we tipped up Sydney to our subscribers to go the whole way at just shy of Evens and after convincingly trouncing Perth 3-0 they’ve come into a very short-looking 1.36 to lift the trophy.
Home advantage once again proved hugely important in the play-offs as Melbourne Victory also came through against Brisbane in their semi. As Sydney topped the regular season table – they finished a whopping 17 points ahead of Victory in second – they have the privilege of hosting the final.
This is the 12th A League Final and the 11th to feature a team with home advantage – Central Coast were famously denied the right to host the final in 2008 because their stadium was deemed unfit. Their protest fell on though, andthough and they went down 1-0 to the Jets at the Allianz Stadium – where this game takes place. Only one of the previous 10 home teams have lost in 90 minutes as they’ve won the final eight times with six victories inside the 90.
Sydney went unbeaten through the whole season at home and including their thrashing of Perth they’ve now won seven in a row at the Allianz for the concession of just one goal. Furthermore, they won all of their three games against Victory in the regular season. Victory failed to score in four of their final five away games which looks ominous as they travel to a side that let in just 12 goals all season.
You read that correctly. Sydney have conceded just 12 goals in 28 games this season. Back them to win to nil here at 3.10.
